Words come easily.

Words come easily.

They come like drops of water in a river, a babbling brooke of sounds, a wave lapping against your feet.

They come like ambient music from another room, distant and tinny, but still melodious.

They come like thunder crashing down a mountainside, like a torrent of rain, a flashflood on dry land.

They come softly, they come quietly, they come loudly, they come hesitantly.

Sometimes they come like a prayer, slow and painful, like a fight, a battle.

Sometimes they come unbidden and unwanted and sometimes they come uncared for and umwelcome.

They come in the dark, whispers on the wind, and they come in the light, like the laughter of children, bright and sudden.

They come from within and without, from you and from me and they come like bells and bombs, like war and rage and anger.

They come like love, gently and carefully.

They come to fill the silence, to hold back the flood, to still bleeding wounds and break dark clouds, to distract and relieve and free.

They come without effort or thought, without preparation, without trying.

Words come easily.

Meaning doesn't.
